Glade Towne began as a horse farm.
An intimate community nestled ten minutes north of Frederick, on the land where Hall of Fame champion Challedon was raised.
Most of the streets are named after horses raised at Branncastle Farm. The big white manor house on Glade Blvd is where the owners lived, and you can still see the carriage row trees from Route 194 that lead to its iron gates.
Developer Earnest Ausherman bought the farm in 1971. Today the community is complete: 476 homes, with 120 condos, 147 townhouses and 209 single-family houses.
The pool is free for homeowners, and Safeway, the diner, the tavern and a half-dozen pizza places are all a short drive into Walkersville.
